The Marion/Grant County Convention and Visitors Bureau
The Marion/Grant County Convention and Visitors Bureau (M/GCCVB) is the official tourism destination marketing and management organization for Grant County, Indiana. As a strong advocate of sustainable tourism and economic development, M/GCCVB markets the county's natural and developed environmental, historical, cultural, and industrial attractions to vacationers, motorcoach tour operators, business travelers, and meeting groups. Positioning the county as James Dean Country, the M/GCCVB prepares and implements research-based marketing programs including communications with potential visitors and county residents. M/GCCVB encourages new tourism development projects and provides education and training opportunities for the tourism industry.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau has adopted the following strategic goals:
* To create awareness of Grant County by packaging and promoting to select target markets by origin and special interest (including an international focus).
* To effectively market Grant County using the James Dean brand image.
* To increase the visibility and credibility of tourism and the M/GCCVB within the community.
* To maximize/protect revenue and new funding opportunities for the M/GCCVB.
* To provide educational and training opportunities for local tour and hospitality operators and groups.
* To seek new partnerships and alliances, both externally and within Grant County, to advance the reach and impact of the M/GCCVB and its mandate.
Services provided by the Bureau's staff and volunteers for visitors, meeting planners, and tour planners include:
* Tourist Information: brochures, maps, event schedules
* Convention & Meeting Services: registration assistance, name badges, welcome signage, VIP bags, and information packs
* Group Tour Services: welcome signage, itinerary planning, information packs, step-on guide service
The M/GCCVB is solely and totally funded by a five percent innkeepers tax which is collected from overnight guests at all hotels, motels, and bed & breakfasts in Grant County.
