For 10 years In honor of Capt. Cook's dedication and service, the Grant County Sheriff's Department and the International Union of Police Associations, Local 825, offered the Captain John M. Cook Memorial Scholarship. From 2010 - 2019 the Scholarship provided $10,000 to 10 deserving Grant County high school seniors who furthered their education in a criminal justice related field at a college or university of their choice.
In 2020 the Captain John Cook Scholarship was transferred to the Community Foundation of Grant County who now manage the Captain John M Cook Memorial Fund.
In honor of Capt. Cook's dedication and service, the Grant County Sheriff's Department and the International Union of Police Associations, Local 825, are proud to open the Captain John M. Cook Memorial Fund, as a part of the Give To Grant Collaborative with the Community Foundation of Grant County, Indiana. This Fund provides flexible financial support to trusted nonprofit partners across Grant County who are responding to critical needs. The Fund also allows the Community Foundation’s Board to be nimble in their response to addressing our community’s most pressing and emerging needs, specifically with organizations working with our most vulnerable citizens. Because of this fund and the support of so many generous donors, the Captain John M. Cook Memorial Fund is making a difference for worthwhile causes and people, at the local, Grant County level. Thank you!
